 June 30, 2011

Hi all!

Happy Summer!

It is sooo HOT here today!

On days like today, the early settlers may have had a second thought or two.

Lifting water from a hand-dug well would have made building a wind-mill an event to celebrate!

We are thankful for, and in awe of, those early Kansans who persevered.

Help us CELEBRATE KANSAS and our sesquicentennial - 1861 - 2011!

Plan to join us for our 3-day QUILT SHOP HOP, Sept. 30, Oct. 1 & 2.

We now have a sample of the CENTRAL KANSAS QUILT SHOP HOP 2011 FABRIC!

Check out this EXCLUSIVE fabric designed by Jason Yenter of In The Beginning Fabric.  We had a lot of fun introducing Jason to Kansas!

We are taking pre-paid PRE-ORDERS, with the fabric being available for pick-up or shipping Sept. 30th, at the start of the Shop Hop.

This fabric is only available through Central Kansas Quilt Shop Hop shops.  More details on the 3-day Hop, Sept. 30, Oct. 1 & 2 can be found here:

Today's heat makes me think of AFRICA!

One article I read claimed that non-Africans most often think of the SAVANNAH when they think of Africa, and I am no different!

Check out our AFRICAN INFLUENCED fabrics department for a variety of textures & images:

We continue to ADD FABRIC to the HOLIDAYS department too.

While Winter fabrics look somewhat out of place today, there are many of you who are smart enough to know that staying inside the air conditioned house working on WINTER PROJECTS keeps you cool now and you'll keep your cool this Holiday season with timely, finished projects that will warm the hearts of friends & family this CHRISTMAS!

Reduce stress twice by sewing now! :)

LaVerna just finished this CHARMING BABY LOG CABIN quilt, complete with PRAIRIE POINTS.

She used Jason Yenter's WINTER SOLSTICE fabrics.

We have the entire line and will have them on the web soon!  So keep this link handy:

Rita just finished a TABLE RUNNER from CARDINAL'S SEASON, by the designing Kansas duo, Jenny & Toni of Wing and A Prayer.

Their pattern, CARDINAL IN THE PINES, includes instructions for a THROW size quilt, PILLOW, and RUNNER.

Combine their pattern and their gorgeous new fabrics from TIMELESS TREASURES to make these projects that will warm you all winter long!

If you're not quite ready for Winter projects or Christmas fabrics, take a look at BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY, also from Wing and a Prayer designers.

If you are a female, you are at least one of these; Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother. :)

So for yourself, or maybe someone else on the list, why not make one or more of these charming quilts!

The pattern also includes instructions for pillows & a small wall quilt.  Or maybe it is the perfect size to use as a LAP QUILT.

This small group of fabric includes a PANEL, TOSSED WORDS AND A TONAL PRINT, all coordinating with their WILDFLOWER RHAPSODY fabric collection.

Designer Diane McGregor, has renamed my version of ASIAN ODYSSEY, RISING MOON

I liked her design, but when I got to the appliqué circles, I was reminded of "moons", which led me to "moon over mountain", an old, classic quilt block, and next thing I knew, I was cutting wedges out of my circles which totally changed the design!

I started with a custom assortment of 10-inch SQUARES which we cut from some of our ASIAN FABRICS.  Diane has customized her pattern to explain my techniques, and you can only get it from me. :)

Looking forward to FALL CLASSES, Rita has finished her version of Marti Michell's THE ROMANCE CONTINUES sampler quilt.

Mary will be teaching this as a BLOCK OF THE MONTH, starting Sept. 15th.  You can also order the complete KIT for this quilt.

I've been working on a Wing and a Prayer pattern, and converting it to use some of Marti's PERFECT PATCHWORK TEMPLATE SET Q and the FLYING GEESE RULER.
