Hi all!
Quilt Market, now already a couple
of weeks ago, provided soooo much "food for thought".
One thing is for sure - there are a lot of very busy, very creative
people at work in the world!
While there were more
than a few ideas to choose from, I'm happy to announce 3 of the
MONTHLY programs we're
going to start in January 2007 and initial response has been very
enthusiastic.
GINGERBREAD
JOY will be our "second
Thursday" program. This will be a combination of a 6" PIECED block and
a 12" APPLIQUÉ block mailed monthly. The registration fee is $24.95 to join and we'll mail you kits to make the
blocks for just $16.50 each month (plus s&h) for a total of TWELVE
MONTHS. This will
include the fabric for the appliqué block as well as 3 fat quarters
each month to make the pieced blocks. Fat quarters (rather than
smaller, size-specific pieces), will allow you to make several 6"
blocks or even 12" blocks, if you wish, that will be used for
setting your appliqué blocks into a quilt at year's end. Plus
you'll have a great selection of white, natural, green and red fabrics
in your stash! :) The fun appliqué blocks include GINGERBREAD
PEOPLE and a GINGERBREAD HOUSE.
Very cute! Check out this link for details:
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=9996
GINGERBREAD JOY will also be an "in store experience".
:)
If you can make it to the
store in Newton each 2nd THURSDAY at 9 a.m. or 7 p.m., you may be
eligible to receive a 6" pieced block kit for FREE, when you make
and
bring the previous month's block along to show.
Check in the
store for details on this. It is really a fun time!
Whether you will be an appliqué beginner, or are quite experienced at
appliqué, Mary will be covering many different aspects of of appliqué
techniques during these 2nd Thursday sessions, as well as other tips,
introducing new products and stuff!
$8.99 GINGERBREAD APPLIQUÉ KITS will be
available for purchase in the store.
KANSAS SPIRIT
will be our "SECOND SATURDAY" program and will consist of a
different 12" pieced block each month. We will be
using Kansan Jeanne Poore's new book
KANSAS SPIRIT - 15 HISTORICAL QUILT BLOCKS
& THE SAGA OF THE SUNFLOWER STATE.
The $24.95
registration fee includes the book and then we'll MAIL monthly bundles of fat quarters to
make the blocks. The cost will be $12.50 (plus s&h) on
months that include 5 colors, and less on the months where there are
only 4 colors. There will be pictures of our blocks posted on
the web site each month. You can choose from TRADITIONAL
"Kansas colors" - navy, dark green, deep wine & burgundy,
rusts & golds, or a FEED-SACK "theme" consisting of
prints and colors reminiscent of feed-sacks of the
1920s, '30s & '40s. Or don't choose and we'll send you 2 bundles each
month!
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=9993
KANSAS SPIRIT, the book, is available
without the class or monthly program. Go to the link above
and choose "book only" option to order.
If you'd like
to read my review of KANSAS SPIRIT, new from KANSAS CITY STAR
BOOKS, please click or go to:
Kansas_Spirit_Book_Review.htm
THIMBLEBERRIES CLUB from Lynette
Jensen will also meet here in the store the FIRST THURSDAY of each
QUARTER in 2007. "House
& Garden" is a delightful collection of RJR fabrics by
Lynette. This has been VERY popular here in the
store.
The Thimbleberries Club annual
registration fee is $19.95 and while supplies last, will include a
CHARM PACK, a
packet of 5" squares of CLUB fabrics from RJR. Mary Eilerts will be
conducting the Club "meetings" ("parties"?) at 7 p.m.
on the first Thursday of each QUARTER with FUN & DOOR PRIZES.
Our FIRST THIMBLEBERRIES CLUB
MEETING will be
THURSDAY JAN. 4TH. The other meetings will be in April, July,
and October. This should allow you time to complete your quilt
in less than a year, and possibly even be able to give it away for
Christmas. Wait, maybe you'd better plan on making two - one to
keep and one to give away! There are two different color-ways
available - WARM & COZY and LIGHT & BRIGHT - both fitting their
names.
The QUARTERLY FABRIC BUNDLES will
cost $49.99 and will include all the patterns & fabrics
you need to complete the top and bind a queen-size bed quilt. In
addition you will receive patterns and ideas for smaller projects, and you will be able to order
additional fabrics needed for these as well. Mary will be
shipping these to those who can't attend, shortly after each
meeting. You'll be able to watch our "exclusive"
Thimbleberries Club web page for special tips, pictures, etc.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=9995
If you join Charlotte's Shopper's
Club, for just $30 for the entire year of 2007, you will receive a 20%
discount on ALL REGULARLY PRICED merchandise, including the quarterly
fabric bundles, making them just $39.99, a total savings of $40 on just
these items alone! See how quickly the Shopper's Club membership
will pay for itself?!
And finally, if you are going to be
in the area over the
THANKSGIVING WEEKEND, plan on stopping at Charlotte's!
FRIDAY & SATURDAY only, Nov. 24
& 25,
we'll have a FAT QUARTER FRENZY!

$1 EACH FAT QUARTERS - 2 DAYS ONLY
- all single fat quarters in existing inventory will be ONE DOLLAR
STOREWIDE. Excludes bundles, kits and exclusive Shop Hop
batiks. We will not be cutting fat quarters to order during the
sale.
WEB CUSTOMERS can order ON-LINE $1
FAT QUARTERS with the "SURPRISE ME BUNDLE OF 20" and we'll
pick a nice, varied selection for you. Feel free to order more
than one assortment for LOTS OF VARIETY:
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=6601
Now I'm off to meet Lily in
Kansas City and we're going to spend Saturday at the Sewing
Expo. It is so much fun that she has "grown into"
knitting, sewing and embellishing! :)
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Charlotte Wolfe

November 3, 2006
Hi all!
Happy November! It
is still nice here in Kansas, with cool days and cold nights.
Everyone seems to be sewing! :)

Which is good, as more
fabric is arriving every day. Check out our "WHAT'S
NEW" section of the web site:
http://www.sewnatural.net/nl.asp?c=58&p=17
This is also the season
of the "bazaar" (and the bizarre, but that is another
newsletter <LOL>).
Tomorrow, Saturday Nov.
4th, Salem United Methodist Church, just across the street from us at
the corner of 7th & Main in Newton, is having their annual ARTS
& CRAFTS BAZAAR.
This year they are also
having a QUILT SHOW from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. I hope you can come
to the store tomorrow and take advantage of this opportunity while
you're in Newton.

5 FUNKY MONKEY
ALERT!! Yes, we just got another shipment of FUNKY
MONKEYS! Such a perennial favorite - they never go out of
style! We've got regular cotton prints as well as BRUSHED cotton
prints in stock now. OOOhh - jammies! :)
Check the web site to
see our entire selection, but hurry, as these MONKEYS seem to have a
lot of energy and move quickly!
http://www.sewnatural.net/nl.asp?s=monkeys
I am working on my QUILT
MARKET report for you! Actually, first I have to go through all
the orders, and get organized! But there is a lot of excitement
here in the store from the previews and I'm trying to get my report
written for you next week. If you can make it to SEWING CLUB on
Thursday at 10 a.m., you are welcome to visit for $5 (and then we hope
you'll join- but no pressure. :)
The fabric companies are
offering lots of awesomely beautiful florals in traditional and new
contemporary colors, especially roses and dahlias. I also saw a
lot of modern, urban, artsy fabric from young, fresh designers, as
well as new directions from familiar favorites, like Amy Butler, Robyn
Pandolf & Deb Strain! I think I bought a little and a lot of
everything!! More on this next week, so stay tuned!
Have a great weekend and
I hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Charlotte Wolfe

Thursday Oct. 26, 2006
Hi all!
Today I leave for
Houston and International Quilt Market. We're going to check out
at least one quilt shop in Houston before Market and stay at a bed
& breakfast in an old house in a historic Houston
neighborhood. Sounds like fun and I'm excited! I LOVE
Houston in October!
I'll be looking for more
inspirations, beautiful fabrics, unique project ideas, and new
products. How do they keep coming up with these? I don't
know but, lucky for us, they do, and are so much fun to
discover! Of course, I'm looking for some specific stuff too,
like an idea for next year's Saturday Sampler, fabrics to finish this
year's Saturday Sampler, just to name a few.
Well, I'll be busy but I'll keep you posted & I'm going to try to
stay FOCUSED! <G>
While I'm in Houston, be
sure to check out my web store.

Thursday Sept. 28, 2006
Hi all!
This Saturday is QUILT
PINK SATURDAY! If you would like to join Mary in assembling some
quilts to be donated locally and also to be auctioned on-line by
American Patchwork & Quilting to benefit the Susan G. Komen
Foundation, please let us know in person or by phone
316-284-2547. If you don't live close to Newton, check with your
local quilt
shop as many are having events of their own. This is the largest
BENEFIT QUILT EVENT ever! Until there is a cure there is a need
for funds for more research, detection and treatment of breast
cancer. Details can be found at:
http://www.quiltpink.com
So many people have been
touched by cancer. Local designer Wilma Niemann has put together
this simple pillow pattern and includes 2 copies of a poem by an
anonymous author, WHAT
CANCER CAN NOT DO, which can be reproduced on fabric and used in
the pillow.
http://www.sewnatural.net/nli.asp?iid=9922
Cancer can not cripple
LOVE. This would be a perfect gift for someone you love, a
sufferer or a survivor. The colors can be changed to any of the
symbolic colors or just your favorites! A comprehensive list of
the colors of ribbons that have come to be associated with various
cancers can be seen at this web site (I found this with a simple
"google" search):
http://www.thepinpeople.com/awarenessribboncolors.html
Then
check out our awesome selection of BATIKS & TONE-ON-TONES by using
these searches:
http://www.sewnatural.net/nl.asp?s=1895
for basic hand-dyed
colors from Hoffman. (If link doesn't work, type 1895 into search box
at top of web site page.)
http://www.sewnatural.net/nl.asp?s=fusion
for a great tonal print
from Robert Kaufman in lots of colors.

Here's a special
opportunity. You can learn lots in a short period by attending

Are we having fun
yet?! Let's kick October off with a BANG - next Friday through Sunday
OCTOBER. 6, 7, 8 we'll be participating in the Central Kansas Quilt
SHOP HOP. We'll be here from 9 to 9 on Friday and Saturday and
11 to 4 on Sunday. Visit all 10 participating shops and be
eligible to win one of our grand prize packages (including Tutto
Totes, sewing machines & more) and lots of other
great prizes too. But most fun of all may be getting to see all
the wonderful quilts that will be on display in all of the shops.
My quilt, BRIGHT KANSAS, is hanging in the store now.

Our theme this year,
KANSAS BREEZE, inspired us to use 2 Kansas trees as inspiration for
our exclusive BATIK fabrics. The Osage Orange (HEDGE APPLE) and
COTTONWOOD trees have great leaves, seeds and fruit. Check out
our wonderful fabrics and pre-order. We'll start shipping these
exclusive batiks right after Shop Hop, or you can pick up here in the
store during that weekend (tell us to hold and we'll not charge you
shipping). I expect my quilt back from the quilter any day now,
so check back soon. I'll put a picture on the web after the Hop.
You can see the 2006
batiks as well as the EXCLUSIVE BATIKS from the 2005 Shop Hop, still
available, at this link:
