One recent Sunday I was alone in the sunroom reading when I started hearing a weird sound. I thought the neighbors were up to something. I got up to investigate and was amazed to see nearly a dozen small owls sitting in the maple tree just outside my window! They were sooo cute and looking right at me! There were still a few hanging out when Randy returned minutes later, but we've never seen them since. Internet research told me that only a few large ones really "hoot", but I definitely heard "whoooo-whoooo". :)
